How does chiropractic work?
Chiropractic doctors are unique in the health care marketplace. Their expertise in human function enables them to locate and correct painful musculoskeletal problems. Chiropractors are able to provide relief relatively quickly and inexpensively.
The premise of chiropractic care is that a universal intelligence exists in all matter, including our bodies. This innate system uses the nervous system to maintain and coordinate every cell, tissue, and organ in the body.
Subluxations are misaligned segments of the spine that interfere with the body’s natural intelligence and our ability to adapt to our environment. Dis-function, disease, and eventually degeneration can result.
Chiropractic care involves locating and correcting subluxations, reversing the degenerative process, and bringing about optimal health.
Chiropractors use controlled forces — adjustments — when there are restrictions around joints that the body is unable to overcome. Such barriers include tight muscles, swelling, inflammation, scar tissue, and pain. The controlled force of the adjustment safely generates the energy to overcome such restrictions and return a joint to its normal range of movement.
